How to Clean a Pot
The Best Way to Clean A Pot!
By: Ezzio & Asia Lavarello
So if you follow our stories, you know we use the Instant Pot a LOT. I’m not huge on using it for braises and rice (sorry, guys!) but where it really comes through for me, week after week is for beans. Garbanzos, black beans, pink beans, we eat a lot of beans en esta casa.
All this wear and tear has left our Instant Pot looking like the tail end of a night out on South Beach, so we took to the inter webs to find out how to bring this bad boy back to new. And that is when I came upon the best kept cleaning secret that I didn’t know I didn’t know.
BAKING FREAKING SODA. Sí, mi gente. Just plain old regular schmegular baking soda like you get in the little orange box. So here’s what you do:
Step 1
Wash your inner pot with soap and water like normal. If yours is in a bad way like mine was, this will do approximately nothing for all the stains.
Step 2
Pour out the water, and pour in 1/2 cup baking soda. Use the moisture from the sponge to make a paste. If it’s still crumbly, wet the sponge again. Be careful not to add too much water because you really want a pasty consistency.
Step 3
Use the scrubber side of your sponge, get up in there, add more baking soda if needed and VOILA. FREAKING MAGIC.
